Whatton's  mother wrote to various people in March 1916, 1 June 1916 and 10 April 1921, seeking a photograph of her son's grave.  She also wrote on 25 February 1917, January 1919 and February 1919 seeking his belongings.  It is unclear whether she ever received anything.
